Landmark Musical Theatre is pleased to announce auditions for the first show in its 2020 season URINETOWN. All 2020 productions will take place at the intimate Shelton Theater Mainstage near Union Square in San Francisco.

Please read this entire page as it contains important information about auditions and callbacks.

Saturday, September 21, 2019, from 10 AM to 3 PM
Sunday, September 22, 2019, from 7 PM to 10 PM

Shelton Theater, 533 Sutter Street, San Francisco (downstairs)
See our venue page for information on directions to the theater, public transit and parking information.

Everyone! We encourage a high level of diversity in our productions with regard to age, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender (whether traditional, binary, non-binary or fluid), etc. We do not discriminate for any reason except talent! Please note that we do feel it is important to cast certain specifically ethnic roles as close to the author's intended ethnicity as possible, assuming actors who are capable and are the appropriate ethnicity come to our auditions.

We will be selecting one of the following dates/times. Please indicate on your registration form which of these you are available to attend.

Wednesday, September 25, 2019, from 7 PM to 11 PM
Saturday, September 28, 2019 from 10 AM to 2 PM
Saturday, September 28, 2019 from 1 PM to 5 PM

At the Shelton Theater, 533 Sutter Street, San Francisco

There will be a performance stipend for all productions. Stipends consist of a modest fixed amount for each performance plus a percentage of the performer's pool which is based on ticket sales. More information about how this is determined and what can be expected will be provided at the audition.

Non-AEA only, please!
Our sincerest apologies to our Equity friends but Landmark Musical Theatre is not eligible for Equity waivers of any kind and is not budgeted for any AEA participation in its 2020 productions.

Stage Director: Jonathan Rosen
Choreographer: Celeste Lococo
Music Director: Christopher Hewitt

There are seven hour-long blocks for open auditions scheduled across two days, Saturday, September 21, and Sunday, September 22. You must select one block. Each block can hold from 8 to 12 people. When a block is full, it will no longer be available for selection.

You must be present for the entire hour-long block for which you are scheduled in order to accommodate singing, acting and dance auditions. Please be on time for the beginning of your block! It may be very difficult to accommodate you if you are a late arrival (although we will always try).

IMPORTANT: All roles require singing, dancing and acting although some roles require more skill than others. Regardless, everyone must participate in all aspects of the auditions.
Singing: Please prepare a song or part of a song, or parts of two songs, with sheet music prepared in your key, no more than two minutes in total length. An accompanist will be provided (no a capella, CD, MP3 or other track-like or karaoke-style accompaniments are permitted). Musical theatre genres are preferred. It is recommended that you avoid songs from the show, but similar songs in the style of songs from the show are definitely encouraged.
Acting: You will have a choice of spoken audition selections taken from the show. Each selection will be approximately 1 minute in length. Selections will be posted here by September 15th for you to review. You may only use one selection for the audition.
Dancing: Please come prepared to move for the dance audition (wear or bring clothes you can dance in - you will be able to change on the premises). You will be taught a short selection from the show as a group and then you will dance it for us individually.

Conflict with callbacks: If you are unable to make callbacks, please schedule yourself and come to the open auditions anyway (if you can). Make sure you indicate your conflict(s) on the registration form box asking about callbacks conflicts and we will contact you if we need more information.
Conflict with general auditions: If you are unable to make either day of the general auditions, please email us at auditions (at) landmarkmusicals (dot) com with your resume and headshot and an explanation of the conflict and we will try to accommodate you if possible. Landmark tries hard to accommodate actors with conflicts as we all have been in that position ourselves. We do apologize if circumstance makes it impossible to help in your specific situation.

REHEARSALS (tentative)
There will be three weeks of rehearsals from December 2 to December 22 with a two-week break for the holidays. Rehearsals will resume on January 6 until we our first preview on February 1, 2020. We never rehearse on Friday or Saturday night, but all other dates (Sunday-Thursday evenings and Saturday/Sunday days) are subject to schedule. Please indicate on your registration form the dates/times that you are not available. A final rehearsal schedule will be released when casting is decided. Most rehearsals will be at the Shelton Theater, but some rehearsals may be held elsewhere in San Francisco.
