AUDITION DATE, TIME AND LOCATION

Auditions for our upcoming "return to the stage" production of 25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTRY SPELLING BEE, which will open on October 9, 2021, at the Children's Creativity Museum Theater, will be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, from 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM at Un-Scripted Theater's second-floor stage, located at 533 Sutter Street, San Francisco (between Mason and Powell).

Auditions will be held in one-hour blocks and you only need to be present for the hour you have chosen to audition. You will need to sing a segment from one of the songs in the show, and you will be taught a short dance routine which you must then be prepared to attempt on your own. Dialogue readings will be done at callbacks. Please come prepared to move and dress accordingly.

We are looking for a diverse cast so all are invited and encouraged to attend our auditions.

AUDITION AND CALLBACK RESOURCES

The songs listed on THIS PAGE should be used during the audition. You may pick any of the songs although ideally you will want to choose the song associated with the character you are most interested in. Each song is provided in .mp3 format (from the original Broadway Cast album) and .pdf format (the vocal section from the libretto). Each selection is approximately 60-90 seconds in length.

CALLBACK INFORMATION

Callbacks will be held at the same location on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, from 7:30 PM until 10:30 PM. Anyone who is called back should be prepared to spend the entire three hours at the theatre for callbacks. We will endeavor to release people as soon as they are no longer needed.

For information on the music and dialogue selections that will be used at callbacks, please check the AUDITION RESOURCES page.

REHEARSAL INFORMATION (PRELIMINARY)

Rehearsals will begin around the first week of August. A detailed schedule will be available as soon as casting decisions are announced. Rehearsals generally will be conducted on Sunday-Thursday evenings and Saturday-Sunday mornings and/or afternoons. There will be no rehearsals for the cast on Monday-Friday during the day or on Friday-Saturday evenings until tech week starts October 2, 2021.

PERFORMANCE INFORMATION

The show will run from Saturday, October 9, 2021 through Sunday, October 31, 2021, with a possible one-week extension through Sunday, November 7, 2021. Perfomances will generally be Wednesday-Saturday evenings at 8:00 PM and Saturday-Sunday afternoons at 3:00 PM. A final performance schedule will be available at the time of auditions.

CONTRACTUAL INFORMATION

All actors will be required to sign the standard Landmark Musical Theatre Performer's Agreement, including rehearsal and performance expectations, rules of conduct and compensation.

There is compensation for all actors. Details are still being defined based on current California and IRS regulations and will be settled before rehearsals start.

At this time, we anticipate compensation for all performances and rehearsals starting October 1 (tech week) will be paid at the standard minimum San Francisco wage of $16.32/hour (as of January 1, 2021), with all rehearsals prior to tech week to be considered voluntary and unpaid. All actors will be considered part-time employees and compensation will be paid with all appropriate taxes (including FICA and SDI) withheld and submitted to the appropriate taxing authorities.

In addition, there will a bonus pool accrued from excess ticket revenues after production expenses (if any) which will be divided between actors, musicians and staff at the end of the production.

With our apologies, this production is not available for members of Actors Equity.

  • Fill out the registration form (personal information, role interests, skills and conflicts) as completely as possible. The registration form can be found by CLICKING HERE.
  • Please indicate your conflicts as best as possible on the registration form at this time. You will have another opportunity to fill out a more detailed conflict form at the auditions. We have not yet finalized the rehearsal schedule, so this information will help us do that.
  • When you are finished with the registration form, press CLICK TO REGISTER at the bottom of the form.
  • You should then recieve a registration confirmation page which will include all of the information you entered on the form for your review.
  • You will receive an email confirming your audition and time block selection within 24 hours.
  • After registering, please email us at auditions (at) landmarkmusicals (dot) com with your resume and a current headshot.

    • Please submit your resume as a .pdf, .doc/.docx or .txt file ONLY. Word processing files other than Microsoft Word (such as Pages) are not convertable by us so please convert to text or pdf yourself.

  • If you need to make corrections after submitting your registration, you have three options:

    • If you are still in the confirmation page, you may press your browser's BACK button and modify your registration information (which should still be visible in your browser). Resubmit the form as you did with the original.
    • If you have left the confirmation page and/or browser, you may go to the registration page and fill it out all over again completely (with modified information) and resubmit it. We will only retain the last version of the registration form that you submit so please fill it out completely if you are resubmitting it in this way. We can not merge the contents of two registrations for the same person.
    • If you prefer, you may email us at auditions (at) landmarkmusicals (dot) com with the changes you want to make and we will modify the form for you.
